  • Laura Hackett - Beautiful Mercy (mp3 download)

There is no pit too deep that Jesus cannot reach
There is no sorrow so strong that would overtake His beloved one

And He’s brought me to the wilderness where I will learn to sing
And He lets me know my barrenness so I will learn to lean

Beautiful Mercy, do what You have to do
Jealous Lover, do what You have to do

  • Relearning the simple things

I’m realizing that we have a choice in everything. You can choose to be happy. You can choose to let go. At the end of the day, you have a part to play in controlling your quality of life. You can choose to forgive, because unforgiveness doesn’t hurt the other person, it allows bitterness and envy to consume you. You can choose who you want to invest into, and what ties you have to cut to become who you want to be.

Some days I feel new, and some days I feel my old ways overshadow me, but maybe that’s what it means to fight, to let the vision and knowledge of being victorious push you toward wholeness in character.

Nothing is perfect, only God’s thoughts toward you will always be good, comparing with others will screw with your understanding. Give thanks for how far you’ve already come, the people already in your life who love you, keep in prayer the future you want, enjoy the moments that make you happy, even if they’re simple, like sleeping to the sound of rain, the steam that rises from a hot shower, laughter with coworkers, a steak prepared just right.

I like the priceless things, like a heart full on love, a mother, the desire to share a breathtaking view with someone, moments when you feel yourself healing, being able to laugh loudly.

Everyone is loved by somebody, and if no one on earth, then you have God, who loves you perfectly. Who made you to be free, and weird, individualistic, and happy.

Love wisdom, hold on to those who accept you, listen to you, and love you even if it hurts them. They seem like they will always be there, but they are just like you, and need to be loved too.

Savor moments when you can feel, let go of memories that make you cold, be patient with deliverance and with people. I think the future has good in store for all of us. :]

  • For 2009, I want to learn to behold:

One thing I ask of the LORD,
           this is what I seek:
that I may dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD
and to seek Him in His temple.

    Psalm 27:4
